Katsu Bento Box
This traditional Japanese lunchbox meal features a breaded and deep-fried cutlet of meat, "katsu," served alongside an assortment of complementary side dishes. Here's what you can expect to find in a typical Katsu Bento Box:
Katsu Cutlet: The centerpiece of the bento box is a katsu cutlet, which is usually made from pork or chicken. The meat is breaded with panko (Japanese breadcrumbs, at Evil Katsu we use an exclusive Large Grind Panko for extra crispness), then deep-fried until crispy on the outside while remaining juicy on the inside. The katsu cutlet is often sliced into smaller pieces and placed on a bed of steamed rice, we don't slice our Katsu though, keeping it whole preserves all the juices and allows for it to travel better, that's how we can ensure a perfect katsu for delivery and take out.
Our rice is a bit different as well, we use premium Japanese short-grain rice but we toss it with a tosasted garlic puree which brings that flavor to a whole new levdl. The rice serves as a base for the katsu and is usually placed on one side of the box, we make a nice bed for our cutlet and leave the other boxes for your side dishes.
A Katsu Bento Boxes often feature a variety of side dishes known as "okazu." These side dishes are meant to provide a balance of flavors, textures, and nutritional elements. These are the okazu items you can have in our Evil Katsu Bento Box:
Evil Pickles of Celery, Carrots and Cauliflower are included to provide a tangy and refreshing element. Side of tonkatsu sauce and your choice of 2 sides, you decide how to better balance your meal with textures, flavors and nutrients.
